Secure Cross-border Transaction Services

Currently, any trade-related documents across the borders are filed by hard copy, and transacted via mail or fax. With this service, exchange of such documents can be conducted electronically cross border over a secured infrastructure, and with more ease and efficiency. For example, users will be able to apply for trade permits electronically with the received electronic trade-related documents in participating countries with more ease and confidence.

Work is underway to expand the pilot test of document exchange to include the exchange of other trade and logistics information such as export and import permit information, and tracking of consignments.

Mutual Recognition of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

A PAA Certificate Authority will be commissioned as a framework for the mutual recognition of PKI. An infrastructure to support both end-to-end digital signatures as well as digital signatures between service providers will be set-up.

Currently, the working group has developed a common certificate policy. This certificate policy (CP) will serve as the minimum requirements for all the member certificate authorities to work on. Other policies such as test assessment and the recognition of CP standards are completed. The alliance is targeting to have at least one Certificate Authority from each member country to be certified and participate in the PAA by middle of this year.

Testing with the various countries database will be set up to connect the portal in the next two months. By then, it will be capable of providing access to over 120,000 customers of the alliance in the region.
